3-How's Your Spiritual Love Life? (Revelation 2:1-7)

Over the next few messages, we will be looking at the letters to the 7 churches.  All these churches were located in the western half of Asia Minor – modern day Turkey and were specifically selected as representative of:

1. 7 historic churches that existed in Asia Minor
2. 7 types of churches throughout church history     
3. 7 churches typical of today

Today's message focuses on Ephesus = 1^st century church (Pentecost – death of John)

In each letter to the churches there is a consistent pattern:

1. A greeting
2. A title for Christ (taken from chapter 1)
3. A commendation for what they were doing well
4. A criticism for what they were failing in
5. A warning ("He who has ears, let him hear")
6. An exhortation to repent
7. A promised reward for overcoming
