5. The Fruit of Hypocrisy (Romans 2:17-29)
Wednesday Jul 12, 2023
Wednesday Jul 12, 2023
In chapters 1 and 2, Paul has shown that both Jew and Gentile alike, are guilty before God.
In the second half of chapter 2, Paul strips away the hypocritical and legalistic false securities of the religious Jews of that day.

4-To Judge or Not to Judge (Romans 2:1-16)
Monday Jul 10, 2023
Monday Jul 10, 2023
Last week we considered the wrath of God that is being revealed against all godlessness and wickedness of men. In chapter 1:18-32, Paul is primarily focusing his attention on unbelieving Gentiles. And I'm sure Paul's Jewish readers were cheering every word!
The Jews believed that everyone else would be judged except the Jewish race. They actually believed that they were immune from God's wrath simply because they were Jews. They never dreamed that they were under the same condemnation.
They even took a certain delight in looking on the unbelieving Gentiles with a critical and disdainful eye.
Now Paul anticipates their hypocritical response and spends chapters 2 and 3 confronting their sin of self-righteousness and by showing with great force and clarity that, before God, they are equally guilty and condemned.

3-The Wrath of God Revealed (Romans 1:18-32)
Friday Jul 07, 2023
Friday Jul 07, 2023
A disease or illness has to be diagnosed before an appropriate cure can be administered. In the same way, a person must be convinced of his guilt before God before he will be interested in God's forgiveness. He must be aware of his danger before he will be interested in the way of escape. He must understand the wrath of God before he can appreciate the salvation of God.
Paul, without apology, describes the depth of our wickedness and our deserved punishment before he reveals the soaring heights of the grace of God.

2-Unleashing the Gospel | Romans 1:8-17
Wednesday Jul 05, 2023

The letter to the church at Rome reveals that Paul not only had the passion of a prophet, the intellect of a scholar, and determination of an apostle; but also the heart of a shepherd.
Paul Prays For The BelieversA. He gives thanks to God for themThanks = Eucharisteo = "To be grateful, or to express gratitude"
It seems that in every letter Paul was expressing his thankfulness for the positive, redeeming qualities of the fellowship. Even when he was writing primarily to correct the church, he always managed to find something in those churches for which he could be thankful.Years later, when Paul was a prisoner of Rome, he was still thankful! While there he wrote four Epistles (Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon). In each of these letter he gives thanks for the believers to whom he writes.
Eph 1:16 "I have not stopped giving thanks for you."Phil 1:3-5 "I thank my God every time I remember you."Col 1:3-6 "We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you."Philemon 1:4-5 "I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints."
Paul's thankfulness did not rise and fall based on his circumstances, but on his confidence in the sovereignty and love of God.
1Thes 5:18 "… give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

#happy4thofjuly
The Fourth of July! This national holiday brings to mind fireworks, sparklers, family barbecues, picnics and baseball and, of course, our 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺!
On July 2, 1776, Congress voted to approve a complete separation from Great Britain.
Two days afterwards — July 4th —the early draft of the Declaration of Independence was signed by 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 two individuals at that time: John Hancock, President of Congress, and Charles Thompson, Secretary of Congress.
Four days later, on July 8, members of Congress took that document and read it aloud from the steps of Independence Hall, proclaiming it to the city of Philadelphia, after which the Liberty Bell was rung.
The inscription around the top of that bell,
𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝟮𝟱:𝟭𝟬, was most appropriate for the occasion: “𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙢 𝙡𝙞𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙤𝙛”.
On August 2 of that same year, fifty-six men signed their names to the historic document, giving birth to a 𝗻𝗲𝘄 nation as they declared their independence from Great Britain.
On the very day they approved the Declaration, Adams, foreseeing that their actions would be celebrated by future generations told Abigail: “𝙄𝙩 𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙗𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙣 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝘼𝙡𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙮”.
As costly and as valuable our political 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 is, there is a far more valuable 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 that God wants you to enjoy and for which He has paid the ultimate 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 – your Spiritual 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺.
And the record of that document is found in the Word of God. It is God’s declaration of our independence – independence not from the tyranny of a mere man or political system, but from the tyranny of Satan and the tyranny of sin.

1. Introduction to Romans | Romans 1:1-7
Monday Jul 03, 2023
Monday Jul 03, 2023
Without question, the book of Romans is one of the most powerful and influential books ever written.
It has prompted some of the greatest revivals in the history of the church. It has also influenced some of the most significant conversions in church history.
St. Augustine, the most brilliant theologian of the late Middle Ages, came to conviction of sin & salvation after reading chapter 13 of Romans.
Martin Luther recovered the doctrine of salvation by faith from his study of Romans 1:17 and went on to lead the Protestant Reformation. In his preface to the Roman letter, he wrote:"This Epistle is the chief book of the New Testament, the purest gospel. It deserves not only to be known word for word by every Christian, but to be the subject of his meditation day by day, the daily bread of his soul."
His contemporary, John Calvin, wrote:"When anyone understands this Epistle, he has a passage opened to him to the understanding of the whole Scriptures."Several centuries later, while listening to the reading of Luther's preface to the book of Romans, John Wesley was converted and became the catalyst of the great evangelical revivals of the 18th century.
Romans has been called:"The greatest and richest of all the apostolic works." - Meyer"The cathedral of the Christian faith." - Godet"The most profound of all the epistles, and perhaps the most important book in the Bible …’ - Gordon H. Clark

6-Work it Out | 2 Thessalonians 3:6-18
Friday Jun 30, 2023
Friday Jun 30, 2023
Top 10 excuses for not showing up to work:
“If it is all the same to you I won't be coming in to work. The voices told me to clean all my guns today.”
“I can't come in to work today because I'll be stalking my previous boss, who fired me for not showing up for work. OK?”
“When I got up this morning I took two Ex-Lax in addition to my Prozac. I can't get off the toilet, but I feel good about it.”
“I have a rare case of 48-hour projectile leprosy but I know we have that deadline to meet, so if you really want me to come in ...”
“I am stuck in the blood pressure machine down at the pharmacy.”
“The psychiatrist said it was an excellent session. He even gave me this jaw restraint so I won't bite things when I am startled.”
“I’ve used up all my sick days … so I’d like to call in dead.”
“My stepmother has come back as one of the un-dead and we must track her to her coffin to drive a stake through her heart and give her eternal peace. One day should do it.”
“Constipation has made me a walking time bomb and I have to keep my back to an open window.”
And the number one excuse for not showing up to work: “Surfs’ Up!!”
As we come to the final section of Paul’s second epistle to the Thessalonians we find the apostle addressing one last important issue in the church: Those who were being idle!

5-Unleashing the Gospel | 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5
Wednesday Jun 28, 2023
Wednesday Jun 28, 2023
With chapter 3 Paul begins to bring this epistle to a close, but in doing so, we are privileged to see a wonderful model as Paul demonstrates how his team’s confidence lay not in human plans, promotion, programs, or human personalities, but in the Lord Himself.
And the two most potent weapons he has issued to us as His followers are the Word of God (specifically the Gospel of Jesus Christ) and prayer!
In this brief passage, Paul appeals to the church to faithfully utilize both for the glory of God!
Romans 1:16 tells us that “the gospel is the power of God [Dunamis] for the salvation of everyone who believers. Again, in 1 Cor 1:18 Paul states, “the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

4- Stand Firm |2 Thessalonians 2:3-17
Monday Jun 26, 2023
Monday Jun 26, 2023
In this portion of scripture, we're seeing people go through some very costly suffering as a result of following Christ and these were the early days of some outpourings of persecutions that would continue to grow in the church in the uh centuries to come.
The church is also facing in addition to that, false teaching from within and they're confused about a number of things. Then to top everything else off, they're looking forward to this hope that Paul talked about, this eternity and glory, the promises of the inheritance of Christ and all the things that come with ruling and reigning with Christ but because of the brevity of his initial visit they don't have a handle on that.

3-The Coming of the Anti-Christ |2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
Friday Jun 23, 2023
Friday Jun 23, 2023
Paul is writing to refute the false teaching, to assure them that the great day of tribulation had not arrived, and to give them clear instruction about the signs that will precede this great day and the second coming of Jesus Christ.
So for us, this is just an awesome text because it helps us to understand the sequence of events in scripture as it relates to the end times, and it also gives us hope and encouragement as believers that God is going to be faithful to us.
Even though we are struggling and have problems in our lives on a regular basis, we will not be going through the great day, this terrible time of Gods wrath that is going to be coming upon the world.
