19. Your Work Matters (Ephesians 6:5-9)

Now, Paul is going to take a dive into an area that by a lot of people think doesn't even belong in the Bible, and that's our workplace. He talks about our vocation and hetalks about making money, and he talks about how to conduct ourselves as employees and employers.  So, this is like is this nitty-gritty or what it's like if you want to know what it means to be a Christian.  The book of Ephesians is a great place to go because it not only tells us all the incredible things that God has done and is doing, and will do for the church and for the bride and for individual believers, but he goes on and he makes he puts feet onthis thing.  In a very practical way, tells us how we're to conduct ourselves in our marriage, tells us how to respond to our parents, and now he's going to tell us how to live this dynamic incredible life of Christ in our workplace.

Father, we thank you for the fact that you have provided us your Word. We thank you God, it's just such a comfort and actually God, it's such a joy to have it in our hands and to have your teaching your manual for life for everything including raising kids, and including being a child in a home.  I'm asking today that you might be glorified. I'm asking that you change our hearts and our minds that we might be transformed we kind of come, because of the fallen nature, Lord with some wrong ideas about parenting and about being a child in the home and we need you to change our hearts. We need you to give us your perspective and your wisdom and we need you to move us God to want to do your will and walk in obedience to the things that we read in this passage today and I pray that the result would be every family would be stronger than when they came in, every family would be more encouraged and built up, every family would have a vision for the role and the important vital position that their family has in the kingdom of God, and even on this island and in the world,  I ask God that you would give us a vision for what can be when we put our trust in you. So, Holy Spirit, lead our time, take my preparation and my words and my mouth and my mind, and use them to bring glory to your name.

17. Becoming A Christ Like Husband (Ephesians 5:25-33)

Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy. Cleansing her by the washing with water through the word and to present her to himself as a radiant church without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.  In this same way husband's ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it just as Christ does the church for we are members of his body. 
For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery but I'm talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you must also love his wife as he loves himself and the wife must respect her husband.

Thank You Mom’s : Happy Mother’s Day

Enjoy this audio replay of a message Pastor Bob delivered to remind us to appreciate, encourage, and thank all women in our lives, especially mothers. 
Being a woman, and especially being a mom, or grandmother is challenging. Motherhood is a difficult task and a thankless job. More often than not, the average mother struggles predominately with a sense of failure, inadequacy, even though they are pouring their lives out, they are doing everything they can, the demands of the job are so overwhelming, so pervasive, so comprehensive, I'm not sure that anyone could ever feel like they've done enough. That's a real challenge for moms, and grandmas.
Today message and point of reference in scripture is offered as an encouragement for moms today. Thank you, ladies, you civilize the men in your life.
Be sure to call you mom!

16. You Want Me To Do What? |Ephes 5:22-24

Praise God we have something to look forward to. God has a kingdom for us, he's got promised for us, he's got an inheritance for us, he's got a hope for us, he's got Christ for us. NONE of that can be diminished, can't go down with the stock market, it can't disappear with our economic crisis or our debt load as a country, It's untouchable in the Kingdom of Heaven.
The scripture goes on to say "6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. "
What a great perspective... a perspective that every Christian man and woman should have, is that our problems are our friends because they refine us. They skim the dross off our lives. They reveal what's really in our heart : the faith that we've got, the confidence that we've got in God and His Word. He's building us and strengthening us through these trials. Peter says we are actually able to rejoice in these things because the are producing somethings in us that can't come any other way.

15. Redeeming the Time Ephesians 5:15-17

I want to share with you we have absolutely no reason as believers to be frightened of these events that are unfolding in the Middle East or for that matter on Oahu or for that matter in our own country because God is on the throne.  God is doing something significant in the day in which we live, and all these things are a part of the eternal plan of God.  He doesn't, of course have anything to do with evil. He is not the progenitor of evil, or the genesis of evil in any way, and yet at the same time he harnesses all these world events to forcefully advance his eternal work. By God's grace we've got a very good picture of what's going to happen in the final days because of Scripture. 
God has been so kind to us, in fact Jesus said to his disciples "I'm telling you all these things so that you will know that these things are coming in the world you'regoing to have trouble and wow, we've got trouble in the world right now, would you agree?

14. Imitators of God | Ephesians 5:1-2

What kind of people we should be now that we have become citizens of the kingdom of God?
He says in Ephesians 5:1 "be imitators of God therefore as dearly loved children and live a life of love just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God"
We should be imitators of not only God but of Jesus Christ all through the Bible we have evidence of that we have Jesus Christ in John chapter 8 saying "I'm imitating the father I don't do anything or say anything apart from the father instructing me to do that what I see the father doing that's what I do." So Jesus Christ himself in his physical form was taking on that modeling and imitation of God the disciples were called to imitate Christ. He said "as I sent as the father sent me, I am sending you." So, there's this this passing on of this baton we have as believers.

13 New Clothes For a New Life | Ephesians 4:25-32

One of the things that is part of the Christian Life is CHANGE, big change, transformation. As we've been going through the book of Ephesians, that's the one main primary thing that Paul keeps getting at is that our destiny is changed.
Our entire life is changed, our citizenship is changed. We've gone from darkness to life, from the kingdom of Satan to the kingdom of God.
We've gone from a place of being separated from the one true God to now having intimate relationship with him. We've gone from being aliens and strangers to the covenants to being now not only friends of God, but the very bride of Christ.
We have completely had a transformation, though it's hard to see physically, spiritually from God's perspective, it's elevated us to a place where we are seated with Christ in heavenly places.
We are now the manifold wisdom of God. The Expression of his very nature on earth to a fallen world So God has elevated us and really taken us from the pit to the place of the palace of his presence.
Along with that, there is a transformation that takes place. God is calling us to change, to be an aroma of God.

12 Out With The Old - In With the New | Ephesians 4

Sometimes we forget how rich we are in Christ, how blessed we are, how much God loves us, how much he's done for us. Sometimes, we have this this heart because of our circumstances, that we're always asking God for more, and we're asking for his help, and we're asking for his effort in our behalf, but then sometimes forgetting everything that he's already done. In addition to all the things that he's done in Christ he's actually seated us with Christ in the heavenly realms and he's made us citizens of the kingdom of God we were like foreigners and aliens to the covenants and the promises of God and because of Christ's work on the cross we had been adopted into the family of God we've been naturalized as citizens of this new Kingdom. We have a new king, and we have a coming Kingdom and all these things are on the map for the believer. These things exist for us, these things are coming for us, these things are promised by God to us, and there are things that we rely on. They are things that we hold on to, there are things that are realities for us as believers and the realities in the kingdom of God.

11. Built Up In Love Ephesians 4:7-16

God does have gifts for us as a church. In this section of scripture, there is a handful that he intentionally, expressively, purposes to let us know about that has to do with the expansion and the building, and the strengthening of the church of God. They are given by God's grace, they are given strategically, and individually, and they are given for the benefit of the body of Christ. We know from other passages that no one person has all the gifts. In fact God has designed it that way so that no one person can operate independently of the body of Christ.
