Matthew 3:1-17 - The Baptism of Jesus - Part 1
Tuesday May 06, 2025
Tuesday May 06, 2025
In Matthew chapters 1 and 2 we were introduced to Promised Messiah:
His genealogy: Being of the ancestry and lineage of King David
His virgin birth: Conceived of the Holy Spirit
His visiting guests: The Wise Men, AKA King-Makers, of Persia
His miraculous deliverance from King Herod
Only Luke’s gospel records any events of Jesus’ childhood:
He astonished the spiritual leaders of Israel with the depth of his spiritual understanding and insight (Luke 2:41-48).
He had an awareness of God’s calling on his life (Luke 2:49)
He was obedient to his parents (Luke 2:51)
He grew: (Luke 2:52)
In wisdom and stature
In favor with God and men
Unlike Luke’s account, Matthew skips directly ahead 28 years to the start of Jesus’ ministry. (2011)

Matthew 2:1-23 - Pursuit of Jesus - Part 2
Thursday May 01, 2025
Thursday May 01, 2025
We are faced with a choice when it comes to the Messiah:
We can be like Herod, who responded with fear, jealousy and hostility
We can be like the religious leaders who responded with indifference
We can be like the Wise Men who responded with submission, worship and joy!
Isa 55:6-7 "Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon."
As stated on a popular bumper sticker: "Wise men still seek Him" (2011)

Matthew 1:1-17 - The Good News - Part 2
Thursday Apr 24, 2025
Thursday Apr 24, 2025
Most of us skip over these sections like Matthew 1:1-17 and they are rarely read in public. And I’ve never met anyone who has memorized this passage or put it to music and led a congregation in singing it! t reminds me of the story of the man who was asked to write a review of the phone book. His summary: “Great cast of characters. Weak plot.”
But skipping over the genealogy of Christ in Matthew 1:1-17 would be a mistake! (2010)
There are no portions of the Bible that are unimportant – every word counts!
The genealogy of Christ is a treasure trove of spiritual truth and revelation!

Resurrection Power - Ephesians 1:15-23
Thursday Apr 17, 2025
Thursday Apr 17, 2025
Paul unveils some truly remarkable facts about Easter and the power of the resurrection.
No person by intellectual quest can discover the knowledge of God. Many people attempt, through religion and various spiritual experiences, to attain a deeper knowledge of God. But it is impossible for fallen man to reach the infinite wisdom of God by self effort.
A knowledge of God must be revealed for us to comprehend Him. That is what the cross is all about - God's divine intervention in a broken, sinful world with the purpose of revealing himself through Christ and reconciling us to himself through Christ's death on the cross.
Know His Incomparably Great Power For Us Who Believe
The power manifested in the creation of the world
The power manifested in the resurrection
Exerted in raising Christ
Exerted in seating Christ in the heavenly realms
Dynamis = explosive power
Energeia = effective or operational power
Kratos = power that is exercised in resistance and control
Ischys = used of bodily strengt/muscular force, inherent, vital power.
Do you ever feel like you're too weak to go on? Take courage! (1998)

Wonder if You're Loved? (John 18:28-19:15)
Tuesday Apr 15, 2025
Tuesday Apr 15, 2025
Have you ever wondered if you're loved?
That's one of the greatest needs actually that God has placed in our hearts. I believe, Even more than in some cases, more than some of the basic necessities of life. We have this deep longing to know that we have value and importance and that we are loved and that's really what this message is about today. So, although it's a challenging message for me to deliver to you and a challenging one to receive, I believe that it's the fullest and most complete and most comprehensive expression of love ever known to man and ever known in the future to man.
May this message about the unimaginable suffering of Jesus as he went to the cross remind you of His unfathomable love for us.
Enjoy the message
Blessings,
The Epic Life

Palm Sunday: Jehovah Shammah - The Present One - Part 2 (2 Sam 23)
Thursday Apr 10, 2025
Thursday Apr 10, 2025
Pastor Bob teaches from 2 Samuel 23 and highlights one of the mighty men mentioned, Shammah, who stationed himself in a field of lentils and defended it. God called him at that moment to take his stand in that field. In its noun form, Shammah means the one who is present. It's the one who shows up.
There's one other place in the Bible where this word is used, Ezekiel 48, and it's used of Jehovah Shammah. The Lord is describing, through the prophet, the end times and the new Jerusalem coming down out of heaven and the place is called Jehovah Shama, which means the Lord is there.
When Jesus Christ went alone to the cross, in essence he was standing his ground. He wouldn't renounce his deity, mission or messiahship and for that he hung on the cross and he took all of the weight, penalty and suffering that belonged to us upon his shoulders. And for that brief time that he took that entire embodiment of the sin of the world upon himself, he was alone, just like our friend Shammah. What Christ did on a nondescript day in the Middle East 2000 years ago is now bearing fruit that people could have never imagined. (~2002)

Operation Andrew - Part 2
Thursday Apr 03, 2025
Thursday Apr 03, 2025
Effective evangelism is built on relationships. The earliest New Testament example of this is Andrew, who found his brother Simon and brought him to Jesus (John 1:40-42). This is a basic pattern for all evangelism. One person who has found new life, meaning and forgiveness through an encounter with Jesus Christ is motivated by love to bring another to experience that same relationship with the Savior. This is what must happen in all evangelism methods. All Christians have webs of relationships in their lives: family, friends, neighbors, fellow employees, students, casual acquaintances and others.
Church growth specialists have pointed out that the greatest outreach occurs through these relationships. 80% of the unchurched who receive Christ as Savior do so as the result of a personal invitation from a friend. Most Christians can point to a caring person who prayed for them. In fact, God has placed each Christian in the center of a web of relationships with persons to whom you can tell the Good News of Jesus Christ.
